Respite frequently referred to as a short break is a significant component of care for families. It can take various forms. It may be a break for just a few hours or longer, if required.
Respite is one strategy to provide families with a much needed break and is considered central to quality of life. It can be an opportunity to spend time as a family and to do the things that other families do whilst also enabling the child to have social interactions outside of the family unit.
These short breaks are a critical component when it comes to maintaining the family unit and parents general well-being.
